In case you missed it....Billy the Swashbuckling Conservation Expert

It's out....

He's larger than life.

The Newest Africa Expat Stereotype..

Raised by Lions – or so he would have you think...

A gravelly voice emitted in strident tones across the hardware shop heralds the arrival of Billy, widely known conservation maverick and swashbuckling expert on all things wild.  He stands, feet astride and hands on hips in his uniform of too short shorts (worn in all weathers) paired with beige suede safari boots, khaki socks and a short sleeved shirt. He is holding forth on the state of poaching to an unsuspecting older timer who only dropped in for a replacement tap.

‘Bloody Chinese. Poaching’s now worse than it was in the 80s.’ Billy says, not noticing that Mr Chan from the Chinese restaurant is standing at the far end of a long counter waiting to be served....
